"How Movies Teach Manhood"
I really like this video. The movies that students watch are dominated by the "stand alone hero" and don't promote working together as a team. While it may be a jump from movie themes to sexual assault statistics, it does bring up an interesting point. Why are we seeing this increase of sexual assaults? Is there a correlation between pop culture and these statistics? Just something to think about

This video was really interesting. Brought up a lot of good questions about popular entertainment and its impact of children. Although I think the jump from Disney films to sexual assault is quite drastic, I do think the comparison of what the meaning, or themes, were decades ago and now, as well as the comparison of what concepts are prevalent in "boy" and "girl" films. I find it extremely interesting that while girls are being taught, through film, the concepts of making friends, and generating relationships, boys are being told that they must rely on only themselves to tackle a challenge...Nonetheless this is a perfect depiction of the influence popular media has on students. Also brings up questions of how we harness this infatuation with popular culture and media, and use it to our advantage in the classroom.
