Are You Serious?!

So since we are talking about bullying and name calling in class, I thought this article fit in perfect to how mean people can be. Cyber bullying is something that exists ESPECIALLY in this day in age. Cyber bullying is something that happens outside of the classroom and is probably harder to stop but at least with cyber bullying there is proof that something was said and it should be stopped.

  1. Thank you for sharing. I saw this and was blown away by the comments. Questioning her "Americannes" because of her skin color, although she is a U.S citizen. Ah! the ignorance! India is not an Arabic country. Al Qaeda is not in India.
But that aside, yes, CYBERBULLYIN is indeed a very serious form of bullying we must recognize and address. It is vital that teachers move along with the rapid technological advances and become aware of this sort of violent behavior.

  2. I saw this on FB! SO RIDICULOUS!! someone made a comment and it got me thinking too...it makes me wonder what people outside our country are thinking of us because we publish this ignorance and make it known to the world that "this is what "America" thinks"- and this is what being "American" is about, and that we are just "stupid Americans". smh.

  3. Sometimes I wonder if people have gone to far with the self esteem movement. I get that bullying is bad and I do not condone it by any means but I also disagree that everyone is amazing and special. Some people have strengths and weaknesses and some will always be better at other things. Trying to treat everyone perfect sounds to me like a good way to stop progression. This world is full of competition and that doesn't always mean being nice. When students of this age get a job and start getting their asses chewed out by their boss for doing something wrong how are they to be able to handle that when parents and teachers and students of today are expected to be nice all the time?

  4. I like the comment, "9/11 was 4 days ago and she gets Miss America?" (posted on September 13th)...I am more disappointed in the overt racism of those who posted about the Miss America winner than the fact that they are partaking in cyber bullying (though that too, is an issue). I find it interesting that these people think that being American means to be White...pathetic.

The language may be informal "blog lingo" as long as your efforts are sincere and well tied to our purpose with the course.
